Rose Gold Engagement Rings

An engagement ring should be as unique and beautiful as the woman it is meant to grace. Rose gold engagement rings make for an unusual yet stunning choice.

With so many engagement rings on the market it can be difficult to find the ring.  With choices in gemstones and base metals the possibilities may seem endless. Surprisingly however most brides all around the world have traditionally chosen rings in a white or yellow gold, until, that is they see the gorgeous blushing pink coloring of a rose gold engagement ring.

How is rose gold made?

Rose gold engagement rings are made by blending copper and silver alloys into the gold. Gold is very soft on its own. Too soft to make a ring from so it is blended with other base metals to lend it strength. Metals like palladium, nickel, silver and copper are blended into the gold and the gold takes on some of the color of the metal. The color of the gold depends upon how much of what alloy is blended into the mix during creation. For example in rose gold engagement rings the darker the rose coloring the more copper is in the mix.

Styles of rose gold engagement rings

There are many different styles of rose gold engagement rings to choose from. The contrast of the rose against the yellow gold is particularly stunning in multi tone settings. Some of the more popular styles include:

Mokume Gane: Mokume Gane was first created by Denbei Shoami for the use in samurai swords. The term Mokume Gane translated means wood grain and this unique and beautiful pattern is just as intricate as any wood. Made by fusing several different thin sheets of precious metals together, the pattern created displays each element in a truly stunning and distinctive way.

Claddagh:  According to history Richard Joyce created the first Claddagh ring while imprisoned by Algerian pirates. The ring was a made in honor of his true love whom he had left behind. When he was freed many years later and returned home he discovered his lady love had never married due to the memory of their love and was overjoyed to see him. He presented her with the ring and they lived happily ever after. Many of today’s Claddagh rings incorporate rose gold into the setting as a symbol of that undying love.

Rose gold engagement rings are an unusual yet elegant choice for the bride to be. With many choices in hue and style you will find just the ring to bring out the blush in her cheeks and the sparkle in her eyes.
