How is rose gold made?

Rose gold engagement rings are made by blending copper and silver alloys into the gold. Gold is very soft on its own. Too soft to make a ring from so it is blended with other base metals to lend it strength. Metals like palladium, nickel, silver and copper are blended into the gold and the gold takes on some of the color of the metal. The color of the gold depends upon how much of what alloy is blended into the mix during creation. For example in rose gold engagement rings the darker the rose coloring the more copper is in the mix.
